Had Phillips — a 33-year-old MMA fighter with no professional boxing experience — beaten Jones, he stood to pocket $100,000.
However, after being caught late in the first round, Phillips’ time was up in the second when the referee stopped in to end the contest after he found the canvas once more.
The bout was sanctioned by The Arizona State Boxing Commission and headlined a pay-per-view bill on the American television channel UR Shows TV.
